Parkash Singh Badal approves water channel project in south-west Punjab

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal approved a project for the rehabilitation and upgrade of irrigation water channels in south-west Punjab comprising of districts Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda and parts of Ferozepur at a cost of Rs150 crore.Badal directed the irrigation department to take up the project immediately and complete the same by December this year.

Presiding over a high level meeting to review the progress of various irrigation projects here Tuesday, Badal said that the project should be taken up on top priority. Badal further said that funds to the tune of Rs100 crore would be taken from NABARD and another batch of Rs 50 crore from Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) for the purpose
