Provided ‘matchless facilities’ to state’s industry, says deputy CM

Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Wednesday that the SAD-BJP government had provided “matchless facilities” to industry in the state and this had given a tremendous boost to the sector.

Replying to a question regarding the pitiable condition of industry in Mandi Gobindgarh, during a ‘sangat darshan’ at Amloh assembly constituency, the deputy CM said the state government had for first time started providing 24/7 power to the industrial sector at subsidized rates. “Earlier, industrialists had to run their mills for 16-18 hours using power generators,” he said. Sukhbir announced that the SAD-BJP government would promulgate industry-friendly policies to restore the earlier glory of Mandi Gobindgarh as an industrial hub.

He said it was because of the “worldclass infrastructure and progress-centric policies provided by the SAD-BJP government” that many national and international industrialists were showing interest in investing in Punjab.

Answering a query about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sukhbir said a video of the party’s Punjab convener, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, allegedly taking money had gone viral and that had proven that it was a “party of looters”.
He called promised made by the Kejriwal-led party “false” and said its leaders were “naxalites”. “Its leaders are out to vitiate the state’s prosperous atmosphere,” he said.
